Justway Compliments Metal 3D Printing with CNC Services

January 9, 2025

A while back, we took a look at on-demand metal 3D printing service Justway, who offer a variety of AM processes for producing titanium, tool steel, stainless steel, and aluminium printed parts. The company website also offers an instant-quote tool, for customers to assess the price and lead time before committing to an order.

But sometimes, clients prefer their metal products to be manufactured in a more traditional way for a variety of reasons, including accuracy, cost, mechanical properties, and of course, reduced post-processing. The good news is that Justway offers CNC services on-demand, for those wishing to cut metal into shape, rather than fuse it.

In this article, we will take a look at the services that Justway is offering in terms of on demand CNC capabilities. Read on for more information.

Why CNC?

Of course, at 3DPrinting.com we love additive manufacturing (obviously), especially due to its ability to form complex geometries and make parts without the need for tooling. But it does have its limitations, particularly in cost per part, extended post processing times (and costs).

In many cases, metal 3D printing offers the best value for complicated one-off parts, or for extremely high value small runs of highly complex geometries (think of aerospace components with inner fluid channels that cannot be manufactured by other means).

Of course, many of these parts need post processing on a CNC mill or lathe anyway, so that adds to the cost quite significantly.

So why not simply CNC a part in the first place? Well, for larger production runs, and for less geometrically complicated parts, the answer is simple: why not indeed?

Services Offered

Justway can provide CNC-based manufacturing processes including 3 and 5 axis milling, wire EDM, and turning. In addition to these subtractive methods of manufacture, they can provide features such as threaded/tapped holes, inserts, various roughnesses according to specification, part marking (silk screen or laser engraved), assembly, and inspection. Their inspection services include a standard inspection for free by default, and for an additional fee customers can get the standard inspection with a report, CMM inspection with a report, and source material specification.

Those wishing to avail of CNC services can also get a variety of post-processing treatments including anodizing, bead blasting, powdercoating, spraypainting, smooth machining, chemical/physical treatments and more. Just select your preferred treatment under the surface finish menu when you get your instant quote.

Materials Offered

Justway offers a range of materials to meet diverse manufacturing needs, including metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, brass, copper, titanium, mild steel, alloy steel, tool steel, and spring steel.

They also do plastic machining, with options for ABS, polycarbonate (PC), nylon, polypropylene (PP), POM, PTFE (Teflon), PMMA (acrylic), polyethylene (PE), and PEEK. Additionally, they work with specialized materials like Bakelite, FR4, rubber, and carbon fiber, ensuring precision and reliability across various applications.

Instant Quote Engine

As with their 3D printing service, Justway can offer instant quotes for their CNC services via their quote engine, which you can find at this link. The most obvious difference between this quote tool and the 3D printing one is that users should use STEP / IGES files, or some other B-rep type file rather than a mesh file for a CNC quotation.

You can see a screenshot of part of the CNC quotation tool below.

In this example, we have uploaded a STEP file for a cat’s food/water bowl. Users can upload more than one part for quotation however, with the capability for uploading and quoting up to six parts at a time, for convenience.

When you hover over the Quantity input field, you can see what kind of discounts you can get for ordering multiple units of the same part. For our own example, we noticed a 50% reduction in the price per part when requesting a quote for 50 units. So naturally, if you really want to slash costs, buy more parts! For orders of 100 units or more, a custom quote will need to be requested and they will get back to you in a jiffy.

After you have finished uploading and inputting your requirements and are happy with the price and lead time, simply click the Submit Request button to issue the RFQ, enter your details, make your payment, and await your parts in super quick time.

So there it is. Having custom CNC parts sent right to your door has never been easier, especially thanks to their instant quote engine.

If you would like a detailed overview of Justway’s CNC services, then you can check out their CNC machining page over at this link. And of course, we would be doing a disservice to not remind you of their additive manufacturing capabilities – you can get a recap of their offerings by reading our previous article on their services, below.
