K3D Becomes Launch Customer for Additive Industries’ New MetalFab 300 Flex

September 6, 2024

K3D, a Netherlands-based company specializing in metal additive manufacturing, has been announced as the launch customer for Additive Industries’ latest machine, the MetalFab 300 Flex. Headquartered in Bergeijk, K3D has reportedly ordered two of the new machines, which were unveiled at the RAPID+TCT exhibition in Los Angeles, USA.

A Strategic Partnership to Expand Production Capacity

Mark Massey, CEO of Additive Industries, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with K3D. “We are delighted to partner with K3D as our launch customer for the MetalFab 300 Flex. Their decision to invest in our latest system highlights their confidence in our technology and their forward-thinking approach to business growth. The flexibility and scalability of the MetalFab 300 Flex will support K3D in meeting their expanding production demands while managing financial risk effectively,” said Massey.

K3D has been a long-time partner of Additive Industries, having been one of the company’s first customers in 2016. As K3D continues to target sectors such as aerospace, automotive, tooling, energy, and defense, the need to expand its production capacity has become critical. The investment in the MetalFab 300 Flex is a strategic decision to meet the rising demand, particularly in stainless steel (316L) and titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) applications.

K3D’s Vision for Growth with MetalFab 300 Flex

The MetalFab 300 Flex is the only metal additive manufacturing machine with a flexible build area, offering adaptability and scalability for manufacturers. Luuk Wissink, CEO of K3D, shared the company’s excitement about being the first to invest in this new system. “We are very pleased to be the launching customer for the MetalFab 300 Flex. This new business model approach from Additive Industries enables us to invest our capital in smaller increments, reducing our financial, commercial, and operational risks. The ability to expand our capacity and manage our footprint as our business grows is crucial, and the MetalFab 300 Flex provides the perfect solution,” said Wissink.

The addition of these machines will allow K3D to continue its growth and further strengthen its presence across a wide range of industries.
