Jamplast Launches 3DSHQ with a Focus on 3D Printing Materials

August 15, 2024

Jamplast, a prominent resin distributor based in Ellisville, Missouri, has embarked on an exciting new venture by launching 3DSHQ, a dedicated business unit focused on additive manufacturing. This move underscores Jamplast’s commitment to innovation in the ever-evolving world of 3D printing, a field in which the company has been actively involved since 2008.

Catering to Diverse 3D Printing Needs

3DSHQ, which opened its doors in late 2023, is designed to serve a wide range of sectors, from industrial manufacturing to consumer products. The unit offers a variety of 3D printing materials, including sample sizes tailored for consumers, research centers, and other entities requiring materials for testing and development. Additionally, 3DSHQ provides both fused deposition modeling (FDM) filament and pellets, which are essential for various 3D printing processes.

Not only does 3DSHQ supply materials, but it also offers a range of 3D printing machines. These machines span from consumer-grade desktop filament-fed FDM printers to industrial-grade large-scale fused granulate fabrication (FGF) pellet-fed machines. This broad selection ensures that both hobbyists and industrial professionals can find the tools they need to bring their designs to life.

Educational Initiatives for Long-term Success

In addition to its product offerings, 3DSHQ is committed to the ongoing education of molders and processors. The unit provides training programs that emphasize the long-term impact and viability of 3D and additive manufacturing technologies. By doing so, 3DSHQ aims to empower businesses to fully leverage the potential of these technologies, whether for design verification, prototyping, testing, or even full-scale production.

Industry Collaboration and Customer Success

The 3DSHQ platform boasts partnerships with several leading companies in the materials and 3D printing space, including NatureWorks, BASF, Lucite, Trinseo, and Jabil, among others. These collaborations enable 3DSHQ to offer a comprehensive range of high-quality materials and solutions, further solidifying its position in the market.

According to Jamplast President Mike Bernich, 3DSHQ is already making significant strides. He shared that the unit “gained a lot of traction” with customers during the NPE2024 trade show, highlighting the growing interest in niche materials for 3D printing. Bernich noted that by operating 3DSHQ as a separate entity, Jamplast can better focus on this specialized area of their business, allowing them to meet the unique needs of their customers more effectively.

A Legacy of Innovation and Growth

As Jamplast celebrates its 30th anniversary, the launch of 3DSHQ marks a significant milestone in the company’s history. With a strong foundation in distributing resins and compounds from nine suppliers—focusing on engineering resins and bioplastics — Jamplast has consistently demonstrated its ability to adapt and grow within the plastics industry. The company’s recent recognition as one of Plastics News’ Best Places to Work in 2020 and 2022 further underscores its commitment to excellence in both product offerings and workplace culture.
